Liquid sunshine
The power of the sun on the spoon in your jar. Honey is literally concentrated sunlight in liquid form, and how sweet it is. Photosynthesis occurs from the power sources we know as leaves and, combined with either science or sorcery (who knows?), water from the sky collects in the roots of the ground and combines with a series of complex reactions within millions and millions of plants in a localized area, and the bees (and other pollinators) collect it for their survival. Then, after the bees have concentrated and dried it, we harvest, bottle, and slap a snazzy looking label on it for you to enjoy in your home – we just hope it doesn’t go overlooked in that daily cup of tea. Every spoonful of honey is special.

We believe God provided the world with bees of many shapes and sizes. Our obsession is with honey bees and the products which can harvested from the hive to provide an exceptional experience to your table, kitchen, home, and medicine cabinet.
Cooking and group events
Honey is an ancient product. It hasn’t changed from the hive from millenia ago, to our modern world. It’s special. So we love finding creative ways to use it and share with the community through shared experiences.
Candles
There was once a time where homes were illuminated with the golden beauty of the hive. With electricity, coal, petroleum and more, we believe beeswax candles can bring a sense of calm – and literal warmth – to the home which other forms of energy cannot provide. We are pleased to offer beeswax candles to the home for the perfect moment of Kairos.
Home decor
Honey bees aren’t just some fad – the latest trend on social media. While we adore the cute little honey bees pillows, or charms, or catchy phrase about “Saving the bees”, we find the home can be connected with the hive with the offerings of honey bees and hive memorabilia that we produce and source. A home is more than the sum of its parts – and we believe a home should find that balance of nature and nurture with products from the hive.

We formally started as a landscape company, Kairos Landscaping – now Kairos Outdoors – who just so happened to sell honey from our truck to our clients as we would go from yard to yard. The idea was simple – we plant the plants the bees love, and reap the benefits while giving our clients a new perspective on the tired, generic landscapes which served no other purpose than to keep the HOA brigade at bay. We brought color, with attention to nectar value, right to our clients’ yards so they could see the diverse ecosystem our wonderful Sunshine State has to offer. Honey bees, of course, but beautiful butterflies to hummingbirds, and even honey bee look alikes (hoverflies), we decided to separate our operations to bring our experts into their distinct lanes, and here we are, The DeLand Honey Co.

Central Florida typically has 2 generic (wildflower) honey (nectar) flows. Once in the spring, and the other in the fall. Both are distinctly different – the spring typically offering a lighter colored honey, and the fall producing a more robust and fruity honey. All our honey is labeled for what flower it is a majority of. If it’s wildflower, its from whatever is in bloom, black mangrove – its from the saltwater estuaries of the Indian and Mosquito Lagoons; galberry – it’s from the piney forests of Lake and Volusia County, etc etc.

The Secret of Success
In this business, reputation is everything. When we can’t produce enough from our own hives for the demands of the community, we must source from long-established, trustworthy (but private) relationships developed over long periods of time. With the Chinese smuggling hundreds of thousands of gallons of “honey” into the USA through the shadow channels of Vietnam, Thailand, and other Asian and South American Countries – where they ship Chinese honey to those countries and repackage in those locations, then ship into the USA under rebranded packaging – we have to have those trusted relationships with a background in how ethical hive management should look.
